featuring Heather Carmichael (RRC266)

broken image

Hi Heather… what do you for a living?

I’m Head of Tax for an IT distribution company.

How and why did you first get involved with RRC?

Funny story, I think, although not entirely sure what to make of it! My husband bought me membership as a surprise for my birthday in January 2019. I renewed this year, so I'd say it was a good present.

What is your favourite running memory or moment?

There are a few but highlights are definitely the Bury 10k with Emma Stacy literally dragging me along the final kilometre, the Amsterdam trip that spurred me on to sign up to a half and last but not least, the running friends I've made this past year, you guys are the best!

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us...

Me and my best friend, Steph Twomey, have known each other since we were 3 years old and grew up as neighbours in Durham. 35 years later, we're still best friends, with 2 daughters each who are the same ages (and are also good friends), still live within a mile or so of each other (the furtherest we've lived apart) and we're both members of RRC, small world eh!

Who would be your 4 fantasy dinner guests (dead or alive)?

Ben Fogle, David Beckham, Michelle Obama and James Corden

What is your pre-race routine?

Don't eat for at least 3 hours before, make sure I've set up Strava, my Huawei watch and my music then usually accompany my running friends who will most likely need the toilet!

OK onto the quick-fire round…

Favourite book?

Probably something by Dan Brown

Favourite film?

The 1998 film Enemy of the State with Will Smith

Favourite band?

I'm useless with music, ask Matthew! I have quite an eclectic playlist ranging from 90's R&B, to musicals, to modern pop.

Favourite parkrun?

Heaton because that's where I completed my 50th parkrun this year

Who is your running hero?

My dad, who is almost 80 and is obsessed with parkrun, he's almost at 500!

What would you choose as your Mastermind specialist subject?

Celebrity news, I know, I know my very terrible guilty pleasure is Daily Mail Online

You are in lockdown and can only eat one thing for the next 21 days, what are you having?

Chinese takeaway
