Nigel's weekly round up!

week ending 22nd May 2022

It’s been a relatively quiet week by recent RRC standards but never mind the quantity….The week started in London with Cecilia Woods running in the Civil Service Athletic Association’s 10K race in Battersea Park.

On Saturday we were represented at 18 different parkrun events

Notable tourists included Alan Blagburn at the home of parkrun in Bushy Park, Christine Howes at Babbs Mill Country Park in Solihull, Paula Jones - still clocking up the miles in Wales at Nant Y Pandy, Daniel Rawson was in Blackpool, Luisa Shield at Lancaster and Lee Troughton at Frimley Lodge.

We also had runners at both of our anytime club championships events. At Peel Park we had times set down by Alexander Shield, Catherine Shield, David Rudman and a sub-20-minute run by Laurence Keighley.

At Pendle we had Paula Pilling, Kieran Myles, Sarah Sutcliffe, Richard Jones, Peter Taylor and Sacha Cooper.

It was a big city race day in Manchester with the 10K and Half Marathon taking place simultaneously. Everyone’s thoughts must have turned to events 5 years ago at various points during the morning on an emotional day for the city as a whole.Congratulations to 10K runners Amy Calvert, Julia Martin, Caroline Evans, Martin Harrison, Clare Grundy, Leslie Shirley, Adie Graham and Richard Hanson.

In other news, Eve Hart reached a fantastic milestone by volunteering at parkrun for the 150th time. Congratulations to Eve and thank you from all parkrunners at the 5K and junior events.

You may also have seen earlier in the week that Alice Bernstein will be representing England Athletics in the masters squad at the Chester marathon in October after her qualifying time at Milton Keynes.
