Over to you Dawn, starting with the first question, what do you do for a living?

I’m retired and love it! But in the real world, I’ve been a PA and a beauty consultant.

How and why did you first get involved with RRC?

I’d been looking to join a running club since moving to Lancashire from South Yorkshire a couple of years ago. I’m not sure why I chose Ramsbottom really, but it’s always been there at the back of my mind. I went to Poland last year and ran Zielony Jar parkrun. Whilst I was there I met RRC253 Andrea Sidebottom and RRC449 Sandra Powers for the first time! On Christmas Eve, I volunteered at Ramsbottom junior parkrun and there I met a lovely couple Jeff and Christine Pendlebury who are also both members. In the New Year, my partner, Hugh Parker (now RRC553) said why don’t we try Ramsbottom Running Club’s training night. He joined straightaway, so I thought, I better join too!

What’s your favourite running memory or moment?

I have loads of running memories, but one that sticks out in my mind is during COVID. My girlfriends and I decided to do a virtual race over Langsett. It was supposed to be a 10 mile race, but we got lost, we ended up doing 15 miles, but thoroughly enjoyed it. When we were looking down on Ladybower Reservoir from quite high up, we knew we had ran too far! As we stood around deciding what to do, a dashing knight on horseback appeared and he pulled out an Ordnance Survey map from his saddle and helped us get on our way. The terrain is not the best and we did think we were delirious seeing a man on a horse over Langsett Moors.

Tell us something about yourself that might surprise us …

Hmm, not sure what to say here?! But I have no sense of direction and can get lost anywhere. I once did a relay race and got lost, instead of 2.5 miles, I did 5 miles. I was never too far from where I was heading, but didn’t know how to get there.

Who would be your four fantasy dinner guests (dead or alive)?

Sir Mo Farah, Usain Bolt, Ron Hill, Paula Radcliffe

What is your pre-race routine?

Black coffee, Porridge with fresh fruit and nuts & seeds, Toilet numerous times!

Favourite book?

I don’t read many books, but love reading up on finance. I should have been an accountant.

Favourite film?

Hmm... Sleeping with the Enemy with Julia Roberts

Favourite band?

Coldplay

Favourite parkrun?

Morecambe parkrun, my highest age graded parkrun!

Who is your running hero?

My two nephews, Gary, a road runner who ran a marathon in 2.28 hrs, and Damien, who is to do the Bob Graham round next month!

What would you choose as your Mastermind specialist subject?

Running of course!
